Legend Manor Labradoodles
Founders & History

The record behind the dogs.

Legend Manor began with a conviction Mike and Pam Kirkpatrick shared: that a Labradoodle’s quality is written in its lineage, and that knowing how to read that lineage is the whole craft.

From the start, they made a deliberate choice that still defines the program. They wanted authentic, multigenerational Australian Labradoodles — not the American Labradoodles more common and more easily come by. That meant doing the harder thing: researching the lines, learning to trace a pedigree across generations, and reaching across the country to bring the right foundation dogs to North Carolina.

That foundation was chosen, not assembled by chance. Legend Manor’s first stud was Whispering Winds Ruskin, from Grace George of Green Gables — bred by Gail Widman of Whispering Winds Labradoodles, a founder of the Australian Labradoodle Club of America. The program’s foundation dams, Shadow Mountain Ginger and Shadow Mountain Georgia, came from Charl Beauchat of Shadow Mountain Labradoodles. These were not convenient choices; they were the right ones, sourced from breeders who took the lineage as seriously as Mike and Pam did.

That same standard holds today. Legend Manor is registered with the Australian Labradoodle Association of America, and its ALAA Silver Paw distinction reflects the health testing behind every breeding dog in the program. The dogs are health tested, the pedigrees are documented, and the record is there to be read.

The people

More than anything, Legend Manor is a small program that knows its dogs individually — where each one comes from, what each line carries forward, and what that means for the puppy joining your family.

Mike Kirkpatrick

Mike co-founded Legend Manor and is the program’s authority on pedigrees — reading them, tracing them across generations, and understanding what a line will carry into its next litter. It’s a skill built over years of study rather than picked up quickly, and it’s a large part of why Legend Manor’s dogs are what they are.

From the beginning, Mike insisted on authentic, multigenerational Australian Labradoodles and on foundation stock sourced from breeders who shared that standard. That care — for lineage, for health testing, for getting the details right — runs through everything the program does.

Pam Kirkpatrick

Pam co-founded Legend Manor and is at the heart of the program’s relationship with the families it serves. Much of the warmth people feel when they connect with Legend Manor comes through her — from the welcome a new family receives to the care that surrounds every puppy on its way home.
